Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Applications, the clinical systems analyst is responsible for managing clinical applications for NEBH.  The role is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Clinical Applications; providing support to end users for incidents, including rotating on-call support; reviewing change requests, analyzing and recommending appropriate system changes, and implementing those changes into the system; providing training to end users and maintain documentation.  This position also includes the responsibility of supporting upgrades, projects implementing new functionality, and routine maintenance.    The Clinical Systems Analyst should be knowledgeable with EHR Clinical applications for documentation, laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology.     

Principal Duties and Essential Functions:

Support:

  • Provides first line customer support for incidents (including on-call support after hours and on weekends per the on-call rotation schedule).   

  • Conducts root cause analysis for incidents, and implements fixes.

  • Participate in monthly maintenance as required for testing or system checkout

  • Conduct routine maintenance activities as directed.

  • Implements changes as directed by the Director of Clinical Applications, following change management policies.  

  • Performs basic system modifications according to the prepared specifications, including functional adaptations, profiles, documents, and reports, as well as identifying procedural requirements.

    Projects:

  • Participate in major projects as required including system upgrades, and new functionality.

  • Responsible for following a standard approach for System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for project requests, due diligence and planning including identifying requirements, developing/documenting requirements, building the system, testing and training. 

  • Participates in Process Design Teams as required and provide subject matter expertise as it relates to technical and/or operational solution requirements.

  • Determine procedural requirements for the system; complies with development standards and procedures.

  • Defines test parameters and assists in conducting system testing; assists in developing test plans for conversions, interfaces and reports, including Test Conversion/Backload, Unit Test of Reports and Report routing, Integrated Test, Performance and Network Test, and Control Conversion/Backload.

  • Documents and analyzes business, clinical, and operational processes.

    Requirements:

    Bachelor’s required, Master’s preferred.

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent

  • Minimum 3 years of recent information services experience working in IT and managing IT applications, and infrastructure.

  • Must have a thorough understanding of hospital operations, financial, administrative and clinical; Experience supporting common applications, and related peripheral devices is essential.

  • Must have the ability to acquire knowledge on new applications technologies through research, mentoring, and managing other resources, and to transfer that knowledge to assigned staff through direct training, documentation and mentoring.

  • Effective verbal and written communications skills a must.

  • Ability to use effective problem-solving skills and excellent people skills is essential.
