PSR JOB DESCRIPTION: Position Summary
Working for a busy Neurosurgeon, you will be responsible for multiple front office duties including, but not limited to, greeting patients, registration, appointment/test/surgical scheduling, referral coordination, answering phones, billing submission, and assisting patients.
Strong computer and exceptional customer service/interpersonal skills required. Surgical office experience and use of an electronic medical record strongly preferred. Ability to multi-task and prioritize a must.
- Provide medical office front desk support:
Greet patients, collect co-pays, answer telephones, schedule patient appointments and testing, ensure necessary referrals are in place, verify and update patient demographics into electronic health record.
- Request prior authorizations for medical procedures/diagnostic exams.
- Investigate and respond appropriately to all complaints and suggestions.Take effective and appropriate actions where necessary
- Refer medical questions to appropriate sources (Physician, Manager, or Director).
- Participate in special projects as identified by the Physician.
High School Graduate or Equivalent Required. Associates & Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
Related Work Experience
1-3 Years of Patient contact experience required. Medical Office experience required.
Computer Literacy Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers.
Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
